Yez, you are now on holiday, but it is no licence for you to make a nuisance of yourself in public places such as the supermarket stores, business centres, shopping centres, retail parks, business parks, alleys, subways, river paths, pedestrian lanes, on the pavements, balconies of public buildings at arenas of social intercourses, etc, etc.

I am aware some of you have literally been invading supermarket stores, retail parks, business parks, business centres, shopping centres, obstructing shoppers, and passers-by in one way or another, thereby making nuisances of yourselves. This is not good at all!

You must be an example of a good citizen.

By disrupting trading activities in business environments, you are making supermarkets lose enormously in terms of money, time and prevent shop workers from moving about freely in their workplaces, and deny shoppers, the freedom to shop unhindered, unobstructed. And more worrisome, you are taking frontline police officers and the Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) who should be attending to more urgent and serious incidents off their beats.

Again, this is not good.

By this uncouth and inconsiderate action of yours, you put people, particularly shoppers off, and scare them to death!

I know you are likely going to say you are on holiday, so what?

Your being on holiday is not a licence for you to misbehave, be uncouth and unruly, turning yourself into an unparalleled nuisance in public places.

What is more, it has been reported that some of you are all over supermarket stores play-fighting, kicking one another, running around aimlessly, chasing yourselves inside these supermarkets, even riding your bikes and e-scooters in and around therein, pushing pallets, trolleys and baskets about the place on the shop floor to the disregard of shoppers’ and shop workers’ safety and interest, thus posing health and safety hazards to shoppers and staff alike in the workplace.

Most unfortunate and very embarrassing too is the fact that some of you are actually fighting, kicking and beating up shop workers and wrestling them to the ground in their places of work inside the shopfloors on the premises of your local supermarkets. This was exactly what happened at Epping in Essex recently inside a super store of a giant supermarket store!

Bruv, siz, this is not good at all as it is very weird, bizarre, and bestial to so do. Expectedly, the police had to be called in to quell the unnecessary violent aggression against staff by some bad youngsters, forcing the management of the local super store to close their doors to their customers (shoppers), albeit temporarily.

Even though this was temporary, but what you may not be aware of is the fact that that very ugly incident made your local supermarket to lose fortunes – thousands of pounds during that closure.

Again, this is not good!

You are supposed to be a good citizen and a role model to your peers – and an example of a good citizen, a moral ambassador of the nation, both in words and in deed, for you are the mirror and the exact representation and reflection of your home and family whenever you are out there in public places.

Now that you are on holiday, this is the time for you to sit down, take stock of, and reflect on what you did during term time; you are to have a time table and a To Do List for each day, listing out in order of importance how you want to spend the day – how you intend to spend it wisely and gainfully too, because as the wise counsels: “Time is too precious to waste, it must be invested.”

And need I remind you that you are now in the envisioning, dreaming, aspiring and the Becoming stage of your life, you must therefore, learn now to plan your life and future based on your dream/s, vision/s and aspiration/s?

Again, I say to you today: “time is too precious to waste, it must be invested.

By all means, on your daily schedule, include time for play/leisure, going out to meet your friends, going to the gym, swimming pool, etc. But whatever you want to do this holiday, and whichever way you want to spend it, and whatever activity in which you want to engage, be considerate of others, behave well and act responsibly like the good citizen that you are and the mirror of your very home and family.
