STORMS EUNICE, FRANKLIN, GLADYS, AND LIFE’S ‘STORMS’, PART 3

“In the school teach him

it is far honourable to fail

than to cheat…

Teach him to have faith

in his own ideas,

even if everyone tells him

they are wrong…

Teach him to be gentle

with gentle people,

and tough with the tough.”

  • Abraham Lincoln’s letter to his son’s teacher (Stanza 4).

And in all of these too, is the fact that although Eunice did disrupt economic activities in the week it coursed through our shores, it soon passed away just as the afore-mentioned ‘storms’ of life – life’s misfortunes that do dog our paths at one time or another do fizzle out and let us be as soon as they have reached their ‘use by date’ or rather passed away as they came or come to pass. And this is what has happened exactly.

But let me hasten to warn/say that although Storm Eunice seems to have gone for good, it is sure not the last storm the UK or mankind will witness/experience, especially in these times of climate change as more and more storms are on their way – more destructive and deadlier than the previous ones put together!

In fact, I can confirm to you as an environmentalist that in this era of climate change, many new storms are coming and are right now on their way to do maximum havoc like never before.

And in like manner, I dare say that in each and everyone’s life – small, young adult, adult or the aged and the very aged that life’s ever and many ‘storms’ will keep coming to each and every one of us sometime, some day at every stage of our lives as we move from stage of life to another, and no human being living in this fallen world is immune to them or will escape them – whatever be their age – age zero, toddler, kid/child, teenager, young people, young adults, adults, old people until the time of the end, will continue to experience both good and bad times, poverty or riches, plenty or lack, sufferings or hardships until the time of the end!

Child, I say this not to scare you, but to prepare your mind; prepare you mentally and psychologically so you are not swept off your feet and become depressed subsequently whenever life’s misfortunes dog your path.

Also, I do not want you to become faint-hearted nor complacent at any stage of your life nor take life itself for granted.

But nevertheless, don’t be afraid when such times befall you.
