EXAMINATION SUCCESS

“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men,” Proverbs 22:29.

Exam season is here again, and you must not wait until the last minute to revise and prepare. Start now!

Start to revise all your notebooks and other works now, listing your points and annotating relevant quotes.

And don’t forget when revising, you must have at the back of your mind, the 6PsPrior Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance. So, prepare and prepare and prepare as if you are going to a battle. And you must make preparing for your exams a priority, giving your whole attention to it as if nothing in the world matters any more, but your exams.

Also, you may shelve all other plans of yours at this time so that you can concentrate on preparing for your exams properly. And do let all your friends who are not doing their exams now know that you do have a real battle of your life to do for a few weeks, so they need to give you some space or a *breather.

Although it is your exam period, you must yet create some time for yourself to relax, rest and sleep well. And be made aware that every exam period has the potential of putting you under tension and pressures but know that from personal experience I had shed with you on exam tension and pressures previously, it is normal.

But if these tension and pressures are mishandled by you, worrying and being anxious too much, and sometimes, taking stuff to keep you awake all night, so you can read for your exams, then these could lead to mental health challenges. Thus, if you find the tension and pressures at this time reaching a point of extremity and beyond normal, you must seek help immediately, visiting your GP for consultation and a diagnosis.

Therefore, to avoid getting yourself into trouble whilst preparing for your exams by getting yourself into the aforesaid situation, you must not leave all your revisions to the very last minute, as you would be putting yourself under undue pressures and tension when it is a few hours to your exams.

And it might interest you to borrow a leave from my takeaways from my alma mater, ALADURA COMPREHENSIVE HIGH SCHOOL, ANHTONY VILLAGE, LAGOS, NIGERIA, which in fact, was the wisdom of our great and indefatigable Principal, MRS O.A. ALABI, which goes thus:

·         A LITTLE AT A TIME.

·         A STEP AT A TIME.

·         YOUR CLASSROOM IS YOUR OFFICE!
