“Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?.”
Just when the whole world is expecting a period of relief after the pains, the harrowing experiences witnessed by all humanity, the sufferings, tears and sorrows, and anguish of immense proportion arising from catching Covid-19 or that of friends and relatives and actual death, mankind again, is facing another type of pain, leading to wailing and loud lamentations in the nations of the world.
The cost of living is madly flying at a geometrical rate, whilst wages are on the downward spiral.
Energy bills have gone up abysmally, with many a household now having to pay more than double; interest rates too have shot past the rooftop, whilst inflationary rates have continued to gallop upward intractably.
The situation of things is such that the British Government’s N150.00 energy relief bill is like pouring a very satanically hot chilli on a raw wound just sustained.
And food banks have continued to spring up 24/7 in their thousands, and excepting the very affluent population, there is not an income demographic group that is not now wailing and whistling through their anuses, with many now merely chewing their teeth and drinking water to survive the economic inferno of the moment.
And times like these are not just agonising times economically and financially, these times exact enormous pressures on homes – families, children, youngsters, the aged alike in various ways, and the government is not an exception as they have to review and review the year’s budget, dotting their ‘i’s and ‘t’s in all of their economic planning – a situation which, if not well handled, has the potential capacity of driving a wedge in the relationships between Presidents and their Finance Ministers in countries and the nations of the world, and with respect to Great Britain, the Prime Minister and the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Also, times like these do witness global staff auditing – retrenchment, within the global economic system, and using the United Kingdom as a case study, 90, 0000 staffer in the civil service are likely to be laid off according to Government sources!
And if the UK Government makes good its plan to retrench, it is likely to swell the growing army of the unemployed further, especially amongst those in the youth demographic bracket, and the resultant effects across the nations would be more and more youth restiveness; violence, vandalism; more and more demos, as is the case currently in Sri Lanka, thus, fuelling unprecedented level of crimes in and around the globe, including many men and women who will be pushed into the people-pleasing occupation.
But whilst all these economic cataclysms are ongoing, my admonishment to you would be to remain calm and just carry on, lest you jeopardise your health, especially your mental wellbeing through excessive worries and anxieties.
Therefore, keep calm and keep on keeping on!
