A Special Tribute to Her Majesty The Queen, Elizabeth II
BY JOHN ODEY ADUMA
O Ma’am,
O Your Majesty, The Queen
O Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor
O Lilibet!
Why? Why? Why now?
Why? Why?
Why Ma’am? Why, Your Majesty, The Queen?
Why now, Elizabeth Windsor?
Why Lilibet have you chosen these wild, wild, times,
These worrying times, these trying times, these uncertain times,
These perilous times which seem to herald the Second Coming
Of your Lord and Master whom you so much loved,
confessed universally without shame
and proclaimed in and around the world?
Why have you chosen these uncertain times
when the anchor no longer holds?
(Tears, tears, and tears, cascading down the poet’s cheeks very profusely)
Why, Ma’am?
Why, Your Majesty?
Why, *ER?
Why Lilibet have you chosen to depart at a very super-eruptive
and very turbulent times no one in this Age can decode and decipher
Why have you chosen to depart this Other at a time of the greatest shakings in mankind’s history –
The disturbing and very threatening climate change;
The earth quaking in all the corners of the world;
Floods! Floods and flash floods in the nations –
From China to India,
India to Afghanistan,
Afghanistan to Bangladesh,
Bangladesh to Pakistan
And from Pakistan to the nations revelling in complacency
Wars, wars, and wars in the nations,
Pitting one nation against another –
In Syria
In Afghan
In Yemen,
Ethiopia versus Tigray
China, that predatory dragon spitting fire on the Uyghurs,
Scaring Hong Kong to submission,
Provoking Taiwan to ready her tanks, mortars, and ballistic missiles,
And then Ukraine, burning under the yoke of carnivorous Putin,
that sanguinary child of Satan?
Why, Your Majesty?
Why, Ma’am?
Why, ER?
Why, Lilibet have you chosen to depart
At a time of the ravaging wildfire in all Australia
And in all Canada and America?
At a time of worldwide insecurity,
At a time of climate change –
The melting ice cap, flooding the nations, making a beautiful mess
Of all the engineering feats of the modern world,
Dams bursting their banks to drown and submerge the nations,
At a time of intractable droughts, hastening the march of desertification and dust bowls in the nations –
Disharmony and disunity everywhere,
Untruth taken over the hearts of men and women, children, and youngsters,
Hatred everywhere,
Rising hate speech, extreme anger, and worldwide restiveness,
Prejudices and racism everywhere,
Young people running amok, knifing and shooting down everyone on their way.
And like Satan, going about seeking whom to prey upon?
Why,
O Mother,
O Mother Elizabeth,
At a time of all unnaturalness,
When all lives on the planet earth
Stand now threatened by the blackest darkness,
Nay, darkest blackness
With all the worldwide topsy-turvy?
Droughts everywhere and no rains,
Famine everywhere;
Hunger everywhere;
With many selling parts of their bodies so they can live,
Whilst others merely chew their teeth,
drink water and retire to bed with empty stomachs,
Hopelessness and pessimism everywhere,
Unbearable cost of living in the nations with wailings and loud lamentations?
O Elizabeth, judge, judge by yourself,
ER, judge, judge and judge, Ma’am,
Judge, judge, Lilibet by yourself if you have chosen the right time to exit.
O Mother, henceforward, who will inspire us?
O Mother, henceforward, who shall comfort the nations and the Commonwealth?
O Mother, henceforward, who shall I turn to for counselling?
O Mother, henceforward, who shall s/he turn to for guidance?
O Mother, henceforward, who shall the world turn to for direction?
O Mother, henceforward, who shall unite the Commonwealth and the world?
O Mother, henceforward, to whom shall all the nations and the Commonwealth,
All the earth;
All the world;
All humanity
And all mankind turn for that reassurance, hope, succour, wise, true
Genuine, friendly, and kind advice in these our chaotic and perilous times?
But loving Mum
Sweet Gan-Gan,
If this is the time indeed appointed for your departure from this uncertain world,
And if this is your *“necessary end”, then go in peace without turning back
As the Angels from the realm of glory lead you through that massive heavenly gate
With St. Peter ushering you to His presence with your Lord saying to you:
WELCOME, THOU BLESSED OF THE LORD INTO THE BOSOM OF YOUR FATHER.
WELL DONE, GOOD AND FAITHFUL DAUGHTER FOR ALL YOUR SERVICES TO HUMANITY
Adieu, Ma’am.
Gan-Gan – Prince George’s name for his great grandmother, Her Majesty, The Queen, Elizabeth II.
“Necessary end”
