Our planet is warming very fast
With grave consequences
Wreaking havoc of unimaginable proportions.
The wild is in a fit of convulsion
And the rainforests are vanishing fast with frightening rapidity
Pushing species of wild flora and fauna to the brink of extinction.
In confusion, some are running round the globe aimlessly
As our earth in permanent chaos is about to burst into flames.
The arid is dry, thirsty and weary
With desertification provoking dust bowl
And forming mountainous sand dunes
Which bury communities, livestock and farmlands
Sparking off unprecedented drought,
Leading to famines, diseases and wars around the world.
The rivers are drying up,
But the seas and oceans overfed
By the waters from the melting ice cap in the Arctic
Are submerging low-lying communities.
There is wailing in New Orleans, North Eastern Australia, Mauritius;
Wailing in Florida, Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, Serbia, the Maldives;
Wailing in Romania, Bulgaria, Haiti, Nicaragua, the Honduras, etcetera
As cyclones Larry, Katrina, Mitch, Ivan, Tsunami and tropical storm Jeanne
All in a fury came bursting forth and washing into the ocean
Every community, town and city on their way.
Crisis here! Crisis there! Crisis all around the world, and no way out;
The polar ice caps are melting at an alarming rate,
The polar bears are dying in the high Arctic of Canada,
And livestock are dying in the dry and thirsty lands of Northern Nigeria and Ethiopia.
But all the world is sleeping and snoring,
And arguing about the actual causes of climate change
With politicians and business leaders teaming up
In conspiratorial silence to downplay its severity
Whilst some scientists disputed the scientific causes,
Others have propounded anthropogenic etcetera
To refute the scientific theories.
But can Gaia or renewables save
the world from these catastrophes?
