The gods are jealous because
I’m in love with the Princess
So conspired to ruin the day
And like angry wanton boys
Kicked the drums of water in the sky
To let rains pour upon the earth in profusion,
But let them know today has been honoured
With the heavens in council decreeing
I must be by the Princess at the Festival of words.
Therefore, I must go, applaud and cheer her
Waving roses over her head
Before the electrified audience.
Let it pour down, turning all roads to a mud bath
I must go;
Let the pouring rain flood all roads,
I must go;
Let the angry gods thunder fearsomely
I must go;
Let the flashing lightning dazzle my eyes
And make me blind,
I must go.
Let walls and embankments suddenly
Spring forth to block all routes
I must go;
Let the day turn into night so no one dares
Its impenetrable darkness
I must go;
Let every bus, train, cab be taken off the road
Because of the inclement weather,
I must go.
Today, the gods are hereby overruled
As I must defy the elements to be by my Princess,
Not to dare the inclement weather and all opposing forces
For the sakes of those we love is not to love.
Where excuses reign instead of daring
Those things in the way of our love enterprise,
It means there’s no love,
Love that fears danger is no love
And love that listens to threats is for the bin
Love is sacrifice,
And it gives unconditionally
Without counting the cost!
